Kenmore, NY – Patients recovering in Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s Medical Rehabilitation Unit are now healing in a more advanced environment, thanks to a transformative renovation. The upgrades, which were made possible by a generous gift from Scott and Kathy Bieler of the Scott Bieler Family Foundation, were celebrated during a dedication and blessing ceremony.
A Medical Rehabilitation Unit, or MRU, provides a more intensive level of care than short-term rehabilitation facilities, catering to patients recovering from specific conditions such as stroke, hip or multiple fractures, or complications arising from neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease or Multiple Sclerosis.
The enhancements include renovations to the MRU’s gym and Kitchen Simulation Room, the creation of an Independent Living Area, and the addition of several new pieces of equipment, all designed to improve patient outcomes and support a smoother transition back to independent living. The Staff Break Room is also receiving upgrades.
