Childbirth Classes

This motherhood group is for all expecting and new moms (friend or partner welcome if you'd like!) to discuss educational topics, challenges and needs. Raffles and prizes every week and refreshments provided. Registration is encouraged but not required. Sign up in the Maternal Health Equity Center or call 716-862-2342. This group is held in the Seton Building Suite 220 next to Sisters Hospital at 2121 Main St. Buffalo NY 14214. If the childbirth class you are able to attend is full, this is a good option to ask all you childbirth questions. See you there!

This class gives you a bit of what to expect in the first six months with your baby! We discuss care of your newborn, health concerns to watch for, and challenges all new parents face. You will receive a book with online access to multiple tools and apps for future reference.   Questions make the class much more interactive, please come with lots of them!

This Prenatal Yoga 4-week series is designed to prepare the mind and body for labor and delivery. Taught by an experienced yoga practitioner, birth doula and prenatal educator, this class will utilize asanas, meditation, relaxation and breathing techniques while providing effective tools for coping with the intensity of labor.

This is an ACTIVITY based class and appropriate for all three trimesters.  Please dress comfortably and be ready (maybe with a yoga mat, pillow and water bottle) to practice the yoga poses.  This is currently being offered as an in-person class with a virtual option and lasts 1 hour.

Virtual Breastfeeding Support Group – Facilitated by a trained lactation consultant 

The Baby Café at Sisters of Charity Hospital includes:

While this class is not a substitute for a one-on-one consultation with a registered dietitian, it offers a foundational overview to empower you with knowledge and confidence as you navigate  your pregnancy journey.

The goal is to help you understand the why's and how's and tricks for an easier start to Breastfeeding! Breastfeeding and Bottles has been added to the end of this class, so if you want to do both in one day, stay an extra hour and we'll include additional information on pumping and feeding using human milk!

Taughtby an experienced yoga practitioner, birth doula and prenatal educator, thisclass will utilize asanas, meditation, relaxation and breathing techniqueswhile providing effective tools for parenthood.

This is an ACTIVITY based class. Please dresscomfortably and be ready (maybe with a yoga mat, pillow and water bottle) topractice the yoga poses.  This iscurrently being offered as an in-person class.

Any caregiver should be at least 6-weeks postpartum andapproved for physical activity by the Obstetrician.

Babies aged 6-weeks to crawling (approx. 5 months) arewelcome in this class.

This Comprehensive Childbirth Series will meet in person on Thursday evenings in the third floor conference room A for four weeks. This class covers preparing for Childbirth in great detail with experienced Labor and Delivery professionals. We look forward to getting to know you in this interactive class.

This class covers all the basic childbirth topics in person and with lots of activities. Class also includes log-in access to an online childbirth resource center for additional information. Please bring your partner or support person and prepare to have fun and learn about the birthing process from experts!  We will meet in the Marillac Room on the 1st floor and will provide parking passes.
(The evening class is a bit more condensed than the weekend class so we don't get out too late, but still includes a tour of Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby.)

A closer look at taking care of yourself after your baby is born. This class focuses on regaining strength in your core muscles and pelvic floor as well as avoiding complications in the weeks and months after the birth of your baby. Class will be in the Marillac Room on the 1st floor.

You are already an expert, but some things have changed! This class looks at current car seat recommendations, current safety guidelines, and is a great place to ask questions.

This class what to do in emergencies. Choking, CPR, use of an AED, and a first aid summary are included. This knowledge can save your child's life in an emergency! It also makes a great safety course for grandparents and other family members who may be caring for your precious newborn. We meet in Conference room A on the third floor.

This class is for Moms delivery partner since you are her main family support in the hospital for comfort in labor. Additionally, this class gives you the chance to ask questions and get good information about what to watch for physically, emotionally, and medically before and after the birth of the baby. This does not cover baby care as that is addressed in Babytalk!

The arrival of multiples is amazing! This class is intended to add to the Prepared Childbirth Class or the Prepared Cesarean Delivery class for parents expecting more than one new arrival. This class will give you more information about what is happening both during your pregnancy the differences at time of birth and in the early days!
