Buffalo, NY – Catholic Health announced today that Sisters of Charity Hospital has opened Clearview Treatment Services, an inpatient substance use disorder treatment center. The 40-bed unit located on the 5th floor of Sisters Hospital, St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga, will provide holistic, evidence-based care, offering counseling services, primary care, and medication assisted treatment in a safe and secure, inpatient setting.
Western New York has experienced a staggering increase in opioid addiction over these last two years. According to the Erie County Department of Health, overdose deaths were higher in 2022 than the previous peak of 2016. The Clearview Inpatient Treatment unit at Mt. Saint Mary’s Hospital has been serving the needs of Niagara County and surrounding areas, but often has a waiting list. The new Clearview unit will help to alleviate this situation by offering inpatient treatment services to patients living Erie County and other neighboring communities.
“St. Joseph Campus has continually evolved to meet the needs of the community and the addition of Clearview will expand access to substance use treatment care in Erie County and beyond,” said Aaron Chang, President of Sisters of Charity Hospital. “Families are in desperate need of these critical services and we want to help as many individuals as we can to lead healthy, productive lives.”
The second Clearview location is part of Catholic Health’s range of inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment services, which offer confidential and compassionate care at various locations throughout Western New York including Amherst Health Center, St. Vincent Health Center in Buffalo, Substance Treatment and Recovery Program (STAR) program and Pathways programs in Buffalo and Rochester. Catholic Health sees the most Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) patients outside of New York City.
“This additional location will expand the Clearview mission of giving families new hope and healing while providing long-term rehabilitation close to home.” said Dr. Paul Updike, Medical Director, Substance Use Services, Catholic Health. “From the moment a patient walks through our doors, they have the support of a team of caring and dedicated professionals who focus on a compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered approach to care.”
“Our goal is to make the needed resources available to help those who are suffering from chemical dependency receive holistic, medically-proven care all under one roof,” said Mark Sullivan, President & CEO of Catholic Health. “We are committed to fighting this crisis in our community and confident this center is another step in helping us reverse a trend that is claiming the lives of all too many of our family members, friends and neighbors.”
Clearview Treatment Services at St. Joseph Campus will begin accepting patients in mid-May.
