In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Mount St. Mary’s Hospital will be hosting a free mammography screening on Saturday, October 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the hospital located at 5300 Military Road in Lewiston.
Patients will need a prescription from their physician and must not have had a mammogram in the past year. Appointments are required.
Mount St. Mary’s offers both 2D “regular” mammogram tests and 3D mammograms, also known as tomosynthesis or “tomo.” Patients should discuss with their provider which test is right for them when obtaining their prescription.
Tests are courtesy of the “Play Fore Pink” golf event at the Niagara Falls Country Club and Radiologist Dr. Timothy Dyster.
“Thanks to support from the community, we are able to provide this important screening regardless of insurance status,” said hospital President & Chief Executive Officer Gary Tucker. “October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and digital mammography is the most important test in detecting breast cancer.”
The free screenings are by appointment only. Appointments are limited and can be made by calling 298-2370. Because of the limited number of appointments, the hospital cannot accommodate walk-ins for this event.
