Last year, in the middle of the pandemic, I was admitted to Mount St. Mary’s Hospital for a problem with high blood glucose. My husband, children, and grandchildren were unable to visit me because of restrictions. I was petrified, and I was all alone.
But now, looking back, I really wasn’t. The doctors and nurses at Mount St. Mary’s were so kind and caring, and my fears quickly subsided. My stay was about five days and in that time the care was incredible. Not only were the medical staff amazing, but the support people as well. Everyone took the time to talk with me and make sure I had what I needed.
My nurses were so helpful and they made me laugh. Thanks to them, I truly do believe laughter is the best medicine. What’s more, contrary to popular perceptions, the food was very good. That’s coming from someone who worked as a cook for 15 years at a hospital in Lockport.
During my stay, I required some surgery and Dr. Kevin Berman, a surgery specialist at Mount St. Mary’s, was amazing. Like everyone else, he was so kind and put me at ease.
