When my brother Tony had a stroke at age 57, our family faced a decision we never expected to make so early in his life.

Being referred to Father Baker Manor was a Godsend. From the very beginning, Tony was treated with care, respect, and kindness. Every decision was guided by one simple question: What’s best for Tony?

Tony was the youngest resident at that time living within Father Baker Manor. Dr. Eileen Reilly and the staff understood his needs were different and made thoughtful accommodations to make his stay better. From running quick errands for him to watching Bills games together, these little things certainly made a big difference.

My brother was extremely shy, but he connected with the staff at Father Baker Manor. They would tell me how much they loved his laugh, his smile, and his sense of humor. Knowing he was surrounded by people who genuinely cared for him gave our family tremendous peace of mind.

When Tony was later hospitalized at Mercy Hospital for colon cancer, Father Baker Manor staff members would visit him, even on their days off. Those gestures meant more than I can put into words.

During the 14 years Tony lived at Father Baker Manor, I truly believe his quality of life improved. And it wasn’t just Tony; I saw this same level of care extended to every resident, every day.

That’s why this March 30, I want to recognize Dr. Eileen Reilly and the entire care team at Father Baker Manor on Doctors’ Day. It’s a time to honor the dedication and compassion of caregivers who make a lasting difference in patients’ lives.

I invite you to help me celebrate Doctors’ Day this year with a gift in honor of your caregiver. You can make a gift using the enclosed form or donate securely online at CHSBuffalo.org/Foundation. If a caregiver at one our Catholic Health ministries has touched your life or the life of someone you love, I encourage you to recognize them by completing the enclosed tribute card.

Your continued support of The Foundation of Catholic Health helps ensure that ministries like Father Baker Manor continue to provide compassion, safety, and dignity.

With gratitude,
