Catholic Health is pleased to announce two leadership appointments in its Physician Enterprise (PE). Thomas Hughes, MD, has been named Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, and Monica Taylor, MPH, has been named President, respectively assuming medical and administrative responsibility for the system’s employed physician practices.
As Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer of Physician Enterprise, Dr. Hughes will be responsible for improving care coordination within the practices through deployment of evidence- based, patient-centric care delivery models; and the overall performance of the enterprise. Taylor will provide executive oversight for the strategic and operational performance of the practices.

Prior to joining Catholic Health, Dr. Hughes was Regional Chief Medical Officer/Market Medical Director for Nashville-based Honest Medical Group, a physician led value-based care consulting firm. In Buffalo, he served as Chief Medical Officer of Great Lakes Integrated Network and Medical Director of Optimum Physician Alliance. Board-certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine, he earned his MBA at the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management, and received his medical degree from the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, where he currently serves as Co-Director of the Health Systems Science Program.
A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Medical Group Management Association, Taylor has held executive leadership positions at health systems in Michigan, Indiana, and Nevada. Most recently, she served as Chief Operations Officer for University of Michigan Health-West, an integrated health system located in Wyoming, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from the University of Michigan and her Master of Public Health in Health Management and Policy from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
