Catholic Health is streamlining and relocating surgical services currently provided at Sterling Surgical Center in Orchard Park to other ambulatory surgery centers across its network, effective May 1. This transition allows the hospital system to further strengthen access to high-quality, coordinated care while aligning services with evolving patient needs. By consolidating services within its ambulatory surgery network, Catholic Health is enhancing efficiency, strengthening provider collaboration, and ensuring patients continue to benefit from high-quality surgical care in convenient, well-supported settings.
The system is committed to ensuring patients receive seamless care at nearby Catholic Health surgical locations, with advance notice and full support, including assistance with scheduling, insurance coordination, and medical record transfers.
Catholic Health’s priority is also to support its associates during this transition. Team members have been informed of the relocation in advance and have been encouraged to explore opportunities to continue their careers within Catholic Health. Human Resources is actively working with interested employees to identify roles that align with their experience and interest. Associates who do not stay with Catholic Health and meet severance eligibility criteria will receive a comprehensive severance package.
While this decision reflects changes in patient demand, it allows Catholic Health to better align resources and continue delivering high-quality care across at its Ambulatory Surgical Centers in Amherst, Cheektowaga, and Lockport.
