After childbirth, it is common for moms to experience mood swings, anxiety, sadness or irritability. You may have trouble sleeping or have a reduced appetite. These are typically known as the baby blues.
Postpartum depression is similar to the baby blues, but your symptoms are more intense and will last longer. Symptoms usually develop within the first few weeks after giving birth, but may begin later, up to six months after birth.
Group Meets Every Fourth Thursday at the Piver Center
If you have experienced any of the symptoms above, we invite you to attend our monthly Postpartum Mood Issues Support Group.
The group meets every fourth Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Piver Center, located on the Sisters Hospital campus in Buffalo.
We aim to help mothers with postpartum depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and panic disorder. Meetings are free to attend.
