AthletiCare Orchard Park is a Catholic Health Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation location. It is home to a number of specialized rehabilitation and exercise therapy programs. By offering rehab that is geared toward an individual’s specific medical condition, including amputation, vestibular problems, back pain, and peripheral artery disease, we are able to provide better care for our patients.
Aquatic Therapy – Our aquatic therapy program is ideal for patients who are recovering from spinal, orthopedic, or neurological conditions. Exercising in the water allows for more range-of-motion than normal PT exercises, while reducing pain and swelling.
ACL Injury Prevention – This program focuses on neuromuscular training and targeted strengthening of the core, quadriceps, and hamstrings. By improving muscle strength, balance, and coordination, it helps stabilize the knee joint and reduce the risk of ACL tears and other injuries.
Intensive Cardiac Rehab – The intensive cardiac rehabilitation program is designed to help individuals with heart conditions improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Intensive cardiac rehab involves a combination of exercise, education, and support from healthcare professionals who help patients recover from a cardiac event, such as a heart attack or heart surgery, and prevent future heart-related problems.
Fall Risk Assessment and Fall Prevention – Fall risk assessment and prevention measures are available as a service for patients considered at-risk for accidental slips, trips, and falls. Physical therapists can evaluate factors that may affect balance and neurological function, and then recommend treatment to manage your stability.
Occupational/Hand Therapy – Our therapists are focused on helping you regain the skills needed for everyday life. Treatment is designed to improve your ability to perform daily activities such as self-care, work, and hobbies, so you can return to your routine as safely and independently as possible.
Peripheral Artery Disease – Supervised Exercise – Though PAD is commonly characterized by leg aches and pains, studies show that exercise can help manage disease symptoms and progression. We offer supervised exercise programs for PAD patients, so health can be monitored throughout a workout.
Physical Therapy – The physical therapy and rehabilitation services offered by Catholic Health use a team-based approach and the latest technology to provide innovative treatment options to restore your health. PT techniques can help your body rebuild strength, relieve pain, and relearn specific skills.
Physical Therapy for Back Pain – Chronic or recurrent back pain can be downright disruptive to day-to-day activities and may ultimately affect quality of life. Based upon an initial evaluation, physical therapy can target problem areas and significantly reduce tension for those suffering from back pain.
Postoperative Therapy – Postsurgical therapy plays a large role in your recovery. It helps reduce pain, prevent stiffness and blood clots, and restores your strength and mobility, so you can return to your favorite daily activities comfortably and safely.
Presurgical Therapy – Physical therapy designed to prepare your body for an upcoming surgery. Presurgical therapy helps strengthen your body before surgery, reduces the risk of complications, improves your surgical outcomes, and promotes faster recovery.
Pulmonary Rehab – The respiratory therapy team at Catholic Health can evaluate and treat a wide variety of conditions affecting the lungs. Our respiratory specialists provide each patient with timely, personalized treatment, so they can recover faster and avoid hospital readmission. Catholic Health offers pulmonary rehabilitation classes, where we teach patients how to expand their lungs and fully exhale by using incentive spirometers, blowing into harmonicas, coughing techniques, and learning different breathing techniques.
Vestibular & Balance Therapy – Abnormalities within the vestibular system, or inner ear, can cause symptoms such as vertigo, general dizziness, balance problems, and nausea. Vestibular therapy often involves manual repositioning techniques that offer relief to patients suffering from these symptoms.
