Sisters of Charity Hospital is Buffalo’s first hospital, with a tradition of superior care dating back to 1848.

Specialty Services
- Bariatric Surgery: Sisters Hospital ranked #1 in New York State and in the top 5% in the nation for bariatric (weight loss) surgery in a study by HealthGrades. We perform gastric bypass, lap banding and vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Our bariatric wing features private rooms containing flat-screen TVs, larger chairs recliners and beds and private bathrooms.
- Cancer: We have been recognized as offering the best in cancer care by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, who named the hospital a Certified Community Cancer Center. Only one in four hospitals that treat cancer receives this special approval.
- Maternity: Sisters Hospital’s Special Birthplace features private rooms and showers for expectant parents, in addition to sleeper sofas enable loved ones to visit in comfort. Our NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) is equipped to care for acutely ill or premature babies.
- Stroke: As a New York State Designated Stroke Center, our patients receive access to immediate care from staff with the clinical expertise and equipment to effectively diagnose and treat stroke patients.
