Joint Commission accreditation is a voluntary process consisting of rigorous, unannounced site surveys by a team of physicians, nurses and other health executives. Commission accredited or certified organizations have demonstrated that they meet the highest standards in their field. All Catholic Health hospitals have earned accreditation by The Joint Commission.

ASMBS - Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Accredited Center - Comprehensive

This is a joint accreditation by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). This designation represents Sisters’ Hospital’s commitment to safe, quality and personal care that supports excellent clinical outcomes.

BlueCross BlueShield - "Blue Distinction Center Plus for Bariatric Surgery™" (2015-2019)

To receive a Blue Distinction Center+ for Bariatric Surgery designation, a healthcare location must meet patient safety and bariatric-specific quality measures, including complications and readmissions, for gastric stapling and/or gastric banding procedures. The location must also have earned national accreditations at both the facility level and the bariatric care-specific level, as well as demonstrate better cost efficiency relative to its peers.

Quality is key: only those facilities that first meet Blue Distinction’s nationally-established, objective quality measures will be considered for designation as a Blue Distinction Center+.

American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery - Academic Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Women’s Surgery (2012)

Sisters of Charity Hospital is the first in Western New York and one of only 12 in the United States to be named an Academic Center of Excellence in Women’s Health Surgery by the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS).

This recognition by AIMIS means that Sisters Hospital offers laparoscopic and minimally invasive as well as da Vinci Robotic Surgical System gynecologic surgery, particularly laparoscopic hysterectomy, that have produced excellent patient outcomes and meet the highest standards of quality and safety as set by the AIMIS.

Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories - Certification of Lab (Ultrasound) 

The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories is to provide a mechanism for accreditation of facilities which perform comprehensive testing for vascular disease with noninvasive testing modalities. Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories - Certification of Nuclear Medicine

The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote healthcare by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation." Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Stroke

Designated Stroke Center

New York State Department of Health - Designated Stroke Center

Stroke Center Designation assures patients that Sisters of Charity Hospital meets the State’s stringent guidelines for stroke care. This includes being seen by a physician within 15 minutes of arrival in the ER; receiving a CT scan within 25 minutes; interpretation of CT results in 45 minutes; lab results in 45 minutes; and clot busting drugs within 60 minutes of arrival or 3 hours of symptom onset and catheter-based techniques than enable treatment up to 8 hours from symptom onset. 

 2015 Get with the Guidelines: Stroke Gold Plus

Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award (2015)

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus for achieving 85% or higher compliance with all Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Achievement Measures and 75% or higher compliance with five or more Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Quality Measures for two or more consecutive years to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.
