Childbirth Classes

This motherhood group is for all expecting and new teen and young moms (friend or partner welcome if you'd like!) to discuss educational topics, challenges and needs. Raffles and prizes every week and refreshments provided. Registration is encouraged but not required. Sign up in the Maternal Health Equity Center or call 716-862-2342. This class what to do in emergencies. Choking, CPR, use of an AED, and a first aid summary are included. This knowledge can save your child's life in an emergency! It also makes a great safety course for grandparents and other family members who may be caring for your precious newborn. We meet in Conference room A on the third floor.

This Lamaze class will meet in person on Wednesday evenings in the Marillac Room at Sisters Hospital for four weeks. This class covers preparing for Childbirth in more detail with a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and experienced Labor and Delivery professionals. We look forward to getting to know you in this interactive class.

This class is for Moms delivery partner since you are her main family support in the hospital for comfort in labor. Additionally, this class gives you the chance to ask questions and get good information about what to watch for physically, emotionally, and medically before and after the birth of the baby. This does not cover baby care as that is addressed in Babytalk!

This Baby & Me Yoga 4-week series is designed to encourage bonding between baby and caregiver though yoga poses and activities. Taught by an experienced yoga practitioner, birth doula and prenatal educator, this class will utilize asanas, meditation, relaxation and breathing techniques while providing effective tools for parenthood.

This is an ACTIVITY based class. Please dress comfortably and be ready (maybe with a yoga mat, pillow and water bottle) to practice the yoga poses.  This is currently being offered as an in-person class.

Any caregiver should be at least 6-weeks postpartum and approved for physical activity by the Obstetrician.

Babies aged 6-weeks to crawling (approx. 5 months) are welcome in this class.

Taught by an experienced yoga practitioner, birth doula and prenatal educator, this class will utilize asanas, meditation, relaxation and breathing techniques while providing effective tools for coping with the intensity of labor.

This is an ACTIVITY based class and appropriate for all three trimesters.  Please dress comfortably and be ready (maybe with a yoga mat, pillow and water bottle) to practice the yoga poses.  This is currently being offered as an in-person class with a virtual option and lasts 1 hour.

This Comprehensive Childbirth Series will meet ONLINE via WebEx for 4 weeks. This class covers preparing for Childbirth in more detail with an experienced Labor and Delivery professional. We look forward to getting to know you in this interactive class.

This class covers all the basic childbirth topics in person and with lots of activities. Class also includes log-in access to an online childbirth resource center for additional information. Please bring your partner or support person and prepare to have fun and learn about the birthing process from experts!  We will meet in the Marillac Room on the 1st floor and will provide parking passes.
(The evening class is a bit more condensed than the weekend class so we don't get out too late, but still includes a tour of Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby.)

A closer look at taking care of yourself after your baby is born. This class focuses on regaining strength in your core muscles and pelvic floor as well as avoiding complications in the weeks and months after the birth of your baby. Class will be in the Marillac Room on the 1st floor.

This class gives you a bit of what to expect in the first six months with your baby! We discuss care of your newborn, health concerns to watch for, and challenges all new parents face. You will receive a book with online access to multiple tools and apps for future reference.   Questions make the class much more interactive, please come with lots of them! Class will meet in the Marillac Room at Sisters of Charity Hospital.

While this class is not a substitute for a one-on-one consultation with a registered dietitian, it offers a foundational overview to empower you with knowledge and confidence as you navigate  your pregnancy journey.

The arrival of multiples is amazing! This class is intended to add to the Prepared Childbirth Class or the Prepared Cesarean Delivery class for parents expecting more than one new arrival. This class will give you more information about what is happening both during your pregnancy the differences at time of birth and in the early days!

If you plan to also take the Breastfeeding and Bottles class, it is best to take this one first as a foundational course. This class meets in Conference Room A or B on the third floor. We look forward to seeing you and giving you as many tips as possible to help you with your breastfeeding journey.
