I treat my patients like they are my family members. Conservative with treatments if possible and surgery when needed. I take it personally if someone is not doing well and will go above and beyond to achieve a positive outcome and satisfied patient.
Getting patients back to being as active as possible is what motivates me. I have been privileged to take care of generations of families for over 20 years, including many teachers and coaches from Depew High School, where I grew up.
Dr. Ted Szarzanowicz is a Western New York native who graduated from Depew High School and went on to pursue his undergraduate degree at Cornell University.
He received his medical degree from University at Buffalo School of Medicine, where he also completed his orthopedic residency. Dr. Szarzanowicz completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Rochester School of Medicine before returning to Buffalo to begin practicing in 2001.
A knee surgery patient himself, undergoing multiple procedures including a reconstruction, Dr. Szarzanowicz’s patient philosophy employs a conservative approach while aiming to keep his patients as active as possible. He specializes in shoulder and knee replacements, as well as arthroscopic reconstructions. In his free time, Dr. Szarzanowicz enjoys saltwater and freshwater fishing, hiking, visiting national parks with his family. He considers marrying his medical school Sweetheart, Dr. Michelle Penque, and raising their three children to be his greatest accomplishment.

I am a first generation American of Polish immigrants. I spoke more Polish than English when I started school at age 4. I was a three sport varsity athlete in high school as well as a member of the chorus, show choir and musicals.
