Dr. Gelfer is a board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine. He earned his medical degree from First Moscow State Medical University in Russia, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine. Prior to immigrating to the United States, he served as an internist and held leadership roles directing both an intensive care unit and a 75-bed medical unit at a university hospital.
Dr. Gelfer continued his postgraduate training in the United States with a residency in internal medicine at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey, followed by fellowships in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital and sleep medicine at the Sleep Disorders Center of Alabama.
A recognized leader in his field, Dr. Gelfer has authored numerous scientific publications, holds two patents, and has presented research at national and international medical conferences. He remains actively involved in clinical research, medical education, and healthcare leadership, serving in multiple medical director and administrative roles throughout his career. Dr. Gelfer is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), and American Academy of Sleep Medicine (FAASM).
