McAuley Residence is a subacute rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility for patients/residents living with a diagnosed condition or requiring medical supervision. Our facility is located on the Kenmore Mercy Hospital site in the Town of Tonawanda. The physicians, nurses, aides, and rehabilitation specialists at McAuley Residence work with each resident to develop a care plan that best suits their needs and supports overall health.
Subacute Rehabilitation – Participants in a subacute rehab program have been discharged from a hospital or referred by their physician. Our services help short-term residents make a smooth transition back to life after medical care/surgery with the use of therapy and patient education programs. These may include:
Assistance with Daily Living Activities – Regardless of age or limited mobility, maintaining independence remains important to our residents. The nursing aides on-site provide assistance with daily living activities – those essential skills that satisfy our most basic needs. From housekeeping tasks to personal grooming habits and daily companionship, we’re there to support you when you need it most in your life.
Cardiac Rehabilitation – Short-term rehabilitation for patients living with heart disease or recovering from a cardiac procedure.
Skilled Nursing for Seniors – Skilled nursing is the highest level of care a patient can receive outside of a hospital. Registered and licensed practical nurses, and other healthcare professionals provide 24/7 care for residents, especially those who are recovering from an injury, illness, or living with a chronic condition.

Wireless internet access is available throughout the facility. iPads are available for FaceTime visits or patients and residents may bring their own devices.
Regularly scheduled activities for long term residents may include trips outside trips for shopping or entertainment, seasonal and holiday celebrations, or a morning exercise program to start the day. Daily activities are geared to all levels of cognition and dexterity. Rehabilitation patients are welcome to participate as their therapy schedules permit.
We use an external opinion sampling company to conduct satisfaction surveys. McAuley Residence is consistently in Top 10% in Nation for Resident and Family Satisfaction.
McAuley Residence has been named among the top 10 percent in the country for resident satisfaction, according to a report published by My InnerView, a division of the National Research Corporation and Press Ganey.

HealthStream – QAPI Accreditation
HealtStream’s QAPI Accreditation is based on standards for excellence in continuously improving quality of care and life for nursing home residents. McAuley Residence has attained basic accreditation.
Free parking is available for the McAuley Residence next to the building, with convenient lot access from Military Road, so visitors don’t need to be concerned about hospital traffic from Kenmore Mercy.
