Joint Commission Accreditation (20212-2021)Commission accredited or certified organizations have demonstrated that they meet the highest standards in their field. All Catholic Health hospitals have earned accreditation by The Joint Commission.
Leapfrog – “A” Rating, Spring 2024Kenmore Mercy was one of two area hospital to earn an “A” rating from the Hospital Safety Score by Leapfrog in Spring 2023, demonstrating how safe they keep their patients from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. It has earned that rating each cycle since April 2014.
American Association of Diabetes Educators – Accreditation of Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (2017-2021)The American Association of Diabetes Educators has recognized Catholic Health’s Diabetes Education as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support.
Practice Greenhealth – Practice Greenhealth Partner for Change (2015)The Greenhealth Partner for Change Award recognizes superior performance in environmental sustainability. Practice Greenhealth is the nation’s leading environmental healthcare organization.
Kenmore Mercy Hospital was awarded a three-year accreditation for its computed tomography (CT) scanning by the American College of Radiology (ACR). ACR accreditation recognizes that the hospital’s CT scanning service has undergone a rigorous review process and meets nationally accepted standards of care.
Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s Imaging Department received an accreditation from the American College of Radiology for its newly installed Mammomat Inspiration digital mammography system.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed.
The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories is “to ensure high quality patient care and to promote health care by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation.” Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.
American Association of Critical-Care Nurses – Beacon Award for Excellence (2019-2022)Kenmore Mercy Hospital was recognized as one of the nation’s top hospital critical care units with receipt of the Beacon Award for Excellence, given by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. This national recognition highlights Kenmore Mercy’s accomplishments in fostering the highest standards of quality patient care as well as healthy work environments.

Magnet® Recognition for Nursing Excellence (2017-2020)Kenmore Mercy Hospital received national recognition for excellence in nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. With this recognition, Kenmore Mercy joins a select Magnet community – only 454 hospitals worldwide have received the designation. Joint Commission – Total Knee & Total Hip Replacement Certification (2019-2021)In 2011, Kenmore Mercy became the first hospital in the Buffalo area to receive Disease-Specific Care Certification for Total Knee & Total Hip Replacement from the Joint Commission, the nation’s most trusted healthcare regulatory body. In 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019, the hospital was re-certified and remains the first and only hospital in Western New York to merit this achievement since 2011.
Kenmore Mercy Hospital received recertification of its Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The three-year certification recognizes programs rigorously reviewed by the national board who meet the AACVPR requirements for standards of care.
By achieving accreditation, a sleep center demonstrates a commitment to the provision of quality diagnostic services and the management of sleep patients.
Kenmore Mercy Hospital was awarded a special certification from the Joint Commission for its stroke care program. The northtown hospital is the first Catholic Health hospital to receive the Advanced Primary Stroke Center certification, which recognizes its cohesive approach to fostering better outcomes for stroke patients.
New York State Department of Health – Designated Stroke Center (Since 2006)Stroke Center Designation assures patients that Kenmore Mercy Hospital meets the State’s stringent guidelines for stroke care. This includes being seen by a physician within 15 minutes of arrival in the ER; receiving a CT scan within 25 minutes; interpretation of CT results in 45 minutes; lab results in 45 minutes; and clot busting drugs within 60 minutes of arrival or 3 hours of symptom onset and catheter-based techniques that enable treatment up to 8 hours from symptom onset.
Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus (2020)Kenmore Mercy Hospital has received the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Award.
Kenmore Mercy Hospital met specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These measures include aggressive use of medications and risk-reduction therapies aimed at reducing death and disability and improving the lives of stroke patients.
