Dr. Buscaglia attended Canisius High School in Buffalo (Greek Honors Program). He graduated from Canisius College (Tri Beta Biological Honor Society) and Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed two years of Internal Medicine residency at Kansas University Medical Center and one year at Buffalo General Hospital. He completed a Pulmonary Fellowship at Erie County Medical Center.
Dr. Buscaglia has authored or co-authored seven scientific articles and three letters to the editor in U.S. medical journals. He served as an editoral consultant to The Journal Chest from 1991 to 1996.
He developed the first Internal Medicine teaching service in the Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Hospital in 1976. He also established the first laboratory for sleep-related breathing disorders at Mercy Hospital in 1992.
