On April 1, 2009, St. Joseph Hospital officially closed and merged with Sisters of Charity Hospital, becoming Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus.

Specialty Services

• Emergency Care: The emergency room at St. Joseph Campus is staffed by a team of certified emergency physicians, physician assistants and nurses whose services are available 24-hours-a-day. The emergency department, constructed in 2005, features 18 specially-designed private treatment rooms with computer access for bedside registration, as well as a comfortable two-story lobby and an open nurses’ station design that allows for greater family access.
• Orthopedics: St. Joseph Campus is a Blue Distinction Center+ for knee and hip replacement. This designation recognizes our track record for better outcomes. Catholic Health hospitals are the only Buffalo area hospitals to receive this award.
• Sleep Disorders: The SleepCare Center of Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus diagnoses and treats sleep disorders. As an accredited center by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, our Sleep Center meets the national standards for quality and excellence.
• Care for Non-Healing Wounds: Our Advanced Wound Healing Center treats non-healing wounds such as bed sores, diabetic foot and lower extremity ulcers, and more. The Center is equipped with a hyperbaric chamber that creates an enriched oxygen environment and promotes the growth of new tissue.
• Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery: Commonly referred to as lap band surgery, this restrictive and reversible procedure places a hollow, silicone ring, or band, around the main portion of the stomach. Band tightness is achieved slowly over several adjustments, causing gradual excess body weight loss over a period of 18 months to 3 years.
