Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, part of Catholic Health, is one of the largest hospitals in Western New York with the region’s busiest emergency room (ER); our new $32 million ER, opening in the spring of 2010, will triple the size of the current facility.
We are accredited by the Joint Commission, illustrating that we meet the highest quality and safety standards in our field.
Specialty Services
- Emergency: Mercy Hospital’s emergency room is staffed by a team of certified emergency physicians, physician assistants and nurses whose services are available 24-hours-a-day. Our new emergency department, currently under construction, will include thirty-four private treatment rooms, in addition to expanded space for physician staff, nursing and support services.
- Cardiac: The Heart Center at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo offers an extensive selection of cardiac services, including robotic-assisted and minimally-invasive surgeries. Our heart surgery program received a top quality rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, an honor awarded to only 15% (135) of 900 hospitals in the nation.
- Stroke: As a New York State Designated Stroke Center, our patients receive access to immediate care from staff with the clinical expertise and equipment to effectively diagnose and treat stroke patients. Catholic Health hospitals account for three of the five designated stroke centers in Erie County. Click here to learn more about our services for stroke patients.
- Maternity: Mercy Hospital’s Family Birthplace – equipped for labor, delivery and recovery – provides for the health and comfort of our patients. It includes private birthing rooms with private showers and baths, in addition to sleeper sofas that enable loved ones to visit in comfort.
