My mother has been in McAuley Residence for about 30 days now, and I want to comment about the outstanding care she continues to receive from every staff member on 1 East.
The Catholic Health mission and values are so evident in everyone there, from Tova, Renee, Kathy (Social Worker), RNs and Aides, including Mary and Lisa, Lisa (Dietician), Housekeeping and Spiritual Care.
She has felt so cared for from the moment she was transferred from Mercy Hospital and entered McAuley. She set her palliative care directives, and every member of our family has been treated like family.
I regard her experience as sacred because she is treated with such compassion, respect and dignity by each person who comes into her room. Tova Kristal comes in to make sure she has everything she needs, as does her dietician, Lisa, and Kathy the social worker. Renee does too! They also make sure that our family is pleased with her care.
I cannot tell you how reassuring this is to us, who are going through all kinds of emotions during mom's tough journey. We all know that mom will be there through the end of her life.
You can be very proud of everyone at McAuley, because they are living in action the mission and values, not only to their patients but to patient's families. This is making such a difference to every one of us locally, and to those who fly in from a distance.

Thank you so much for taking such good care of our mom, Betty, while she was there.
We knew that she was in good hands and was getting the care we could no longer give her. You were very kind and compassionate to our family the last week of my mom's life. You have a difficult job, but you do it very well, with much patience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

You gave me so much attention and cared for me as you took excellent care of my beloved brother, Lyman. You were always there to "buck" me up when I was overwhelmed.
Dr. Beck, you helped my brother so much, and I cannot thank you enough. You were always there for him in your quiet way. You were there for me too. My family is very grateful for all you did for him.
Thank you to all of the other departments – providing therapy and exercise, wonderful meals, keeping his environment and clothing clean and keeping him entertained – especially Katie Cook's "mishaps" and seeing to his spiritual needs. Chaplain Joe, your prayers for him on the day he died were so comforting and gave a true sense of peace.
I will never forget any of you for all you have done for all of us. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
