Magnet Journey

In 2022, Kenmore Mercy Hospital proudly earned its second consecutive Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and our team is actively working toward achieving a third designation.

This recognition builds on a strong foundation of nursing excellence. After earning Pathway to Excellence® designation in 2012, Kenmore Mercy Hospital achieved its first Magnet® designation in 2017, becoming the first hospital in the Buffalo area to receive this prestigious honor. These accomplishments not only elevated nursing practice and patient outcomes within our organization but also helped inspire other hospitals throughout the region to pursue their own journeys toward nursing excellence.

Magnet® recognition is considered the gold standard for nursing excellence. Awarded by the ANCC, it recognizes healthcare organizations that demonstrate exceptional nursing practice, outstanding patient care, innovation, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

While Magnet® designation celebrations achievements of nurses, its impact extends far beyond the nursing profession. It reflects an organization-wide commitment to quality, safety, collaboration, and patient-centered care. For patients and families, Magnet® recognition serves as a trusted indicator that they can expect the highest standards of care from a team dedicated to excellence every day.

At Kenmore Mercy Hospital, we are honored to be part of this distinguished group of healthcare organizations and remain committed to advancing nursing excellence and delivering exceptional care to the communities we serve.

Nursing Research

Difficult conversations are an important part of healthcare, but they can also be among the most challenging. A recent nursing-led research project at Kenmore Mercy Hospital found that the hospital’s Palliative Care Champion Course is helping associates feel more prepared and confident when discussing goals of care with patients and families. Practice Transition Accreditation Program

The ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program® recognizes organizations committed to excellence in supporting nurses as they transition into new practice settings. Kenmore Mercy Hospital is proud to offer an accredited Nurse Residency Program that equips nurses with the tools, mentorship, and experience they need to thrive professionally while providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients.

Every day, nurses make a lasting impact on the lives of their patients and families. The DAISY Award celebrates those exceptional nurses who go the extra mile, providing not only outstanding care but also compassion, comfort, and support when it’s needed most. Kenmore Mercy Hospital is proud to recognize our DAISY Award recipients and congratulate them for their unwavering dedication to the nursing profession and the patients they serve.
