Dr. Ted Szarzanowicz is a Western New York native who graduated from Depew High School and went on to pursue his undergraduate degree at Cornell University.
He received his medical degree from University at Buffalo Medical School, and also completed an Orthopedic Residency at UB. In addition, Dr. Szarzanowicz completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at University of Rochester Medical School before returning to Buffalo to begin practicing in 2001.
His patient philosophy employs a conservative approach while aiming to keep his patients as active as possible. Dr. Szarzanowicz has been a knee surgery patient himself, undergoing multiple procedures including a reconstruction. He specializes in shoulder and knee replacements, as well as arthroscopic reconstructions.
Dr. Szarzanowicz is happily married to his wife Dr. Michelle Penque, who happens to be the medical director of the ER at Oishei Children's Hospital. They have three children: Amanda, Matthew, and Jack. In his free time, Dr. Szarzanowicz enjoys saltwater and freshwater fishing, hiking, visiting national parks with his family, and avidly following the Sabres and Bills
