Pregnancy Services

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

The dedicated professionals at Mercy Hospital’s Family BirthPlace and Sisters Hospital’s Special BirthPlace understand the joys and challenges of childbirth. They’ll be with you throughout your labor and delivery to offer support and encouragement, as well as to provide any assistance you may need during your stay.

Why Catholic Health?

Neonatal Intensive Care Units

Both Mercy Hospital and Sisters of Charity Hospital are equipped with a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Should your baby require intensive care, we're able to treat him or her on-site, so that mom and baby remain at the same facility. When you give birth at a Catholic Health hospital, you and your baby will have access to the advanced care needed to keep you both safe and healthy.

Certified Nurse Midwives

The Certified Nurse Midwives at Mercy Hospital and Sisters of Charity Hospital are experts in labor, birth and postpartum care. They are the initial and primary contact throughout your labor experience. Our midwives offer encouragement and support and create a trust-filled atmosphere for moms and their babies.

Private Patient Rooms

Our patient rooms are entirely private and feature private showers. Comfortable accommodations are provided for loved ones and specialty suites, available for an additional cost, include flat-screen TVs and refrigerators stocked with refreshments.

Dedication to Patient Satisfaction

Our family-centered approach to care means that we're committed to making the birth of your child as memorable as possible. We invite you to tell us of any special needs or requests so that we can work together to provide the best possible experience for you and your family.

Patient Safety

Mercy Hospital of Buffalo and Sisters of Charity Hospital were selected, along with four other New York State hospitals, to serve as a demonstration site for a special program to enhance obstetrical safety.

By building and sustaining a ‘culture of safety’ in our labor and delivery units, we are ensuring new moms and their babies have the safest birth experience possible.

Insurance

If you need insurance, we can help.

Medicaid is a program for New York State residents who cannot afford to pay for medical care.

If you are a patient at Mercy OB/GYN Center or Sisters OB/GYN Center, our Medicaid advocates will assist you in submitting your application. When you come in for your first appointment, our advocate will walk you through the application process, from beginning to end. Once the application is complete, the advocate will deliver the application in downtown Buffalo for you.

We also offer a Healthcare Assistance Program, which allows you to receive medically necessary services at no charge or reduced charge, if you are eligible, at Catholic Health locations. Click here for more information about this program.
