Catholic Health’s Advanced Wound Healing Centers bring you a whole new world of breakthroughs and specialized experience that can dramatically speed the healing process. In fact, many of our patients heal twice as fast. Here’s why:
Our highly skilled physicians use various debridement techniques to remove
non-viable tissue and prepare wounds for optimal healing.
These grafts are applied to the patient’s wound bed to promote the growth of new skin and decrease
We use custom-designed compression wraps for each patient, condition, and wound stage.
Total contact casing allows the patient’s foot and wound to be “off-loaded” which relieves pressure and shear forces, and reduces healing time.
These dressings maintain a moist wound environment which, unlike gauze dressings, reduces topical infections and cuts the need to change dressings from several times a day to several times a week.
A variety of minimally invasive imaging studies, including Doppler studies, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and radionuclide imaging, assess extremity blood flow.
TCOM helps determine suitability for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, potential for healing and oxygen perfusion to tissues surrounding a wound.
Our wound care specialists evaluate potential for infections and advise patients on treatment and specialty Infectious Disease referral options.
We follow nationally recognized clinical practice guidelines for diagnosing, determining appropriate care, and ensuring the highest quality standards.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) exposes patients to 100 percent oxygen in a pressurized hyperbaric oxygen chamber. By promoting the growth of new blood vessels, HBOT stimulates healing and in many cases cuts weeks off the healing process.
Electrical Stimulation promotes healing in slow-to-heal wounds. We partner with Catholic Health physical therapists to provide these treatments.
This unique therapy uses a vacuum-assisted device to manage wound drainage and promote the development of new tissue.
Pulsed Lavage-Pressurized Irrigation cleans wounds using a high-pressure device to deliver an irrigation solution to the wound.
Infrared Light Therapy stimulates the healing process for difficult wounds. We partner with Catholic Health Physical Therapists to provide this therapy.
Our medical directors have specialty wound care certification and are board certified in Hyperbaric Medicine.
Our specialists have traveled internationally to gain knowledge on the latest treatment options.
Advanced Wound Care Center specialists work together with a patient’s primary care physician, podiatrist, surgeon, or other specialist. By collaborating and coordinating care, our wound care team concentrates on the whole process, addresses the underlying source of the problem, reduces healing times, and minimizes the cost of treatment.
Our team includes medical, surgical, and podiatry experts from Catholic Health, Western New York’s leading health care resource.
We take wound care beyond healing to the next level by helping patients restore full mobility and regain quality of life.
Treating the complications associated with problem wounds is only a part of the care we provide. Our approach includes extensive patient and caregiver education to ensure the best results and prevent future wound problems.
We partner with Catholic Health’s registered dieticians to assess a patient’s nutritional status and treat any deficiencies.
