No matter what your age or sport, AthletiCare's Performance Enhancement program can help to improve your game and reduce the risk of injuries.

Approximately 70% of ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries occur during non-contact situations such as landing from a jump or during turning/twisting activities when a sudden imbalance occurs in the lower extremity. Many of these non-contact injuries are preventable through proper training.
As a Certified Clinical Site for Cincinnati Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation, our goal is to develop strong athletes with good technique to prevent injury AND enhance performance. The program is scientifically proven to increase jump height and reduce the risk of serious knee injuries.

Kira received he doctorate in physical therapy from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Kira splits her time between AthletiCare Amherst and Partners In Rehab Sisters Hospital, working with many orthopedic injuries on a daily basis. Kira has supplemental training in McKenzie and spinal manipulation.
Kira grew up in Lockport, where she participated in cross country and lacrosse. She has been active with several different sports, including Rugby at Syracuse University.
Sean received his bachelor’s degree in Health Care Studies with a concentration in Health and Fitness training and a masters in Athletic Training from Daemen College. Sean is currently a part-time athletic trainer at Medaille College. He has worked with the Buffalo Bills, UB Bulls football team and athletes at both Buffalo State College and Lancaster High School.
With over 8 years of experience in the fitness industry as a personal trainer, Sean is passionate about training for injury prevention and performance enhancement.
As part of our program, you may participate in:
Our participants train for softball, golf, volleyball, basketball, hockey, and other sports. They may play as part of a sports team or recreationally.
This program also benefits runners, who may want to reduce their time in a marathon or ensure that they use the proper technique to prevent injury.
We tailor our programs for each group based on sport, position and personal performance goals.
To see improvements, you must practice proper techniques over a period of time. Our program is generally four weeks long, with sessions that occur twice per week. We will tailor the program to accomodate your needs.

Please note that this program is not covered by insurance. Costs are out-of-pocket.
Group sessions take place at an alternate location, such as at a team's practice field. We will work with you to find a suitable location.
The program begins with an initial screening that assists in identifying weakness and areas for improvement. We then target individual areas for improvement to help you reach your athletic goals.
