What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy helps to relieve pain and improve your ability to move. For instance, it can eliminate back pain or improve your ability to walk or go up and down stairs.

It can also improve you recover after surgery, such as after joint replacement.

Physical therapy often includes exercise, such as stretching or walking.

Manual therapy, including massage, relaxes the muscles and eases pain. Your therapist may apply pressure to a joint, or use slow, measured movements to relieve tightness and improve flexibility and alignment.
