Occupational therapy is often used in the rehabilitation of patients suffering from spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, stroke, or mental illness.
Occupational therapy enables patients to improve their ability to function and complete skills required for self-care, work and leisure.
Therapy will also allow a patient the opportunity to learn how to adjust activities when appropriate, and for patients with permanent disabilities, may include instruction in using adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs.
