Neuro-rehabilitation provides treatment for patients who are experiencing neurological difficulties that may be the result of a stroke, traumatic brain injury or neurological surgery. These problems may interfere with a person's independence and ability to care for themselves, function in the community, or return to work or school.
Our experienced clinicians assess and reassess your abilities so that they may develop realistic short-term and long-term goals for your progress.
Recovery includes a home activity program so that you you may be as independent as possible following rehabilitation.
Research shows that a medical rehab unit (MRU) provides the best opportunity for recovery after a stroke. Catholic Health’s Partners In Rehab offers two hospital-based MRUs at Kenmore Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospital of Buffalo.
Patients have access to daily, onsite physician monitoring and receive care from experienced therapists, many of whom are board-certified specialists or doctors of physical therapy.
After discharge, most patients will return home or to another level of care for additional rehabilitation. Patients who return home may continue their recovery with in-home care or outpatient rehabilitation, depending on their progress and the recommendation of the physiatrists.
