Minimally Invasive Surgery Benign gynecologic conditions may be treated using minimally invasive surgery. Instead of making the standard large incision into the abdomen, minimally invasive surgery utilizes a few very small incisions and a laparoscope. When necessary, robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery is utilized to allow even the most difficult surgeries to be performed in a minimally invasive way. These approaches often allow women to go home the same day or the next, and to have a shorter and less painful recovery.
