The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) says mental health deals with how a person thinks, feels and acts when faced with life's situations. It includes how people look at themselves, their lives and the other people in their lives; evaluate their challenges and problems; and explore their choices.
Mental health problems can affect persons of all ages.
Mental health problems include depression, bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, schizophrenia and conduct disorder.
