Blood testing is a common, routine diagnostic tool used to check for certain medical conditions and help determine how your organs are functioning.

Healthcare professionals use blood testing to:

  • Find out whether you have certain medical risk factors
  • Assess how well your blood is clotting
  • Evaluate how well your organs are working
  • Diagnose diseases and conditions
  • Check whether the treatment you're receiving is effective

Most blood testing does not require any special preparation and only takes a few minutes. Should your blood test require fasting (not eating), your doctor will let you know prior to testing.

Prescription Required

Please be aware a prescription from your doctor is required in order to receive blood testing.

Blood Testing Locations

Catholic Health laboratories are conveniently located throughout Western New York, providing expert phlebotomy (blood draw) services and state-of-the-art laboratory diagnostic testing. Walk-in appointments are accepted. If you prefer to schedule your visit, please visit appointment scheduling locations.

Home Blood Draw Services

Home Blood Draw Services are available. Please note that you must qualify as a home bound patient to receive these services. This is determined by your doctor and outlined in your patient care plan. For more information, please visit our Home Blood Draw information page.

Catholic Health Offers Faster Results for Your Blood Work

All of Catholic Health lab testing is performed locally, offering you same day results in most cases. Some medical labs, like Quest, ship their testing out of state, which can take longer to receive and analyze test results. Our blood draw services are local to help deliver your results sooner.

Most physicians also receive Catholic Health lab results electronically or by autofax.

When Will Your Doctor Receive Your Results?

Results are often available within 24 hours for the majority of testing. For physicians using electronic medical records (EMR), these results are automatically sent to them.
Doctors without EMR will receive results via fax or email.
