Weight Loss Surgery: The Only Long-term Treatment for Obesity

Bariatric surgery, which includes gastric bypass and lap band surgery, is the only proven, long-term treatment for obesity.

When combined with diet and exercise, bariatric surgery can help you to achieve your weight loss goals where other methods have failed. Some patients lose as much as 65% of excess body weight.

Our patients enjoy one-on-one attention and staff who are sensitive to their needs. We know that obesity is a disease and offer compassion and encouragement to help you live a healthier lifestyle.

Why Choose Catholic Health?

We're Nationally Ranked as the Best in Bariatric Surgery

HealthGrades® Five-Star Rated for Bariatric SurgeryMetabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program

When you choose us, you can be assured that you will receive the best of care. Our program has been recognized by third-party organizations as one of the top bariatric programs in the nation.

One-on-One Appointments with Your Bariatric Surgeon

Our bariatric surgeon will meet with you at every appointment. He will take the time to listen to your concerns and will encourage you to contact him with questions both before and after your surgery.

At other bariatric centers, your experience may be more impersonal, with care provided by physician assistants; you may not meet your doctor until the day of surgery!

A Comfortable Environment

Nothing is overlooked in ensuring your comfort.

Following surgery, our bariatric patients recover in private rooms that are designed specifically for patients seeking weight loss surgery.

Sisters Hospital

At Sisters Hospital, recovery rooms also include flat screen TVs. View the images below for a tour of the bariatric wing at Sisters Hospital.

Compassionate Staff

Our staff is highly trained in catering to the needs of the bariatric patient, both physically and emotionally.

To learn how to best make our bariatric patients feel comfortable and to anticipate your needs, our staff undergoes training each year.

We Support You Throughout Your Weight Loss Journey

Your relationship with Catholic Health continues after surgery. Within 72 hours, our nurse practitioner will follow up with you by phone. She can talk you through your diet, fix problems with filling your prescriptions and help with issues at home.

We also offer support groups to weight loss surgery patients or those struggling with obesity. Click here for more information about our support groups.

I have always been overweight and have struggled with it since I was 10 years old.

My pediatrician encouraged my parents to put me on diets, and they signed me up to a gym at a very early age. At 23 years old, I knew I'd be lucky if I made it into my 30s. This surgery was my last resort. I was dealing with emotional issues on top of the physical ones.

If someone told me a year ago all of the things I would be doing today, I would never have believed them. I have lived so much in the past year – physically, emotionally and socially. I was restricted before. My entire life has changed, I have a new lease on life. I don't consider weight an issue anymore when I go to do things, and before, going to a restaurant was really hard.

It saved my life. If I could help one person, I will tell my story. I just want to shout it from the top of a mountain! I could probably climb a mountain now!
