I have a whole new life. I'm doing more than I've ever done in my life.
I'm enjoying everything I do more, and I feel a lot better. I'm so looking forward to doing more. I have a list of things I want to accomplish!
Once you make the decision though, you have to make the decision to live a healthier lifestyle. I now make bariatric-friendly meals using recipes from support group. The surgery is a tool, not the answer. You still have to do your part and put in the work.

The support groups are important before and after the surgery, and you have to follow everything they tell you to do to avoid complications.
I do everything right — from exercising to what I cook — because I knew I had to change my lifestyle.
This surgery is the tool that will help me and others like me live longer, healthier lives.

I have always been overweight and have struggled with it since I was 10 years old.
My pediatrician encouraged my parents to put me on diets, and they signed me up to a gym at a very early age. At 23 years old, I knew I'd be lucky if I made it into my 30s. This surgery was my last resort. I was dealing with emotional issues on top of the physical ones.
If someone told me a year ago all of the things I would be doing today, I would never have believed them. I have lived so much in the past year – physically, emotionally and socially. I was restricted before. My entire life has changed, I have a new lease on life. I don't consider weight an issue anymore when I go to do things, and before, going to a restaurant was really hard.
It saved my life. If I could help one person, I will tell my story. I just want to shout it from the top of a mountain! I could probably climb a mountain now!

From the psychological evaluation and very productive therapy sessions with Dr. Lelito to nutritional behavior sessions with Maria Weber, each process was necessary and meaningful to me while contemplating and then successfully completing the life-changing surgery and its future benefits.
Medically, I am off all diabetic, blood pressure and sleep apnea medicines. I have increased energy, enabling me to exercise 3-5 times per week.
Without a doubt, this surgery has saved and prolonged my life. It has also given me a better quality of life.
