Mary Ann Plans to Pick Up Where She Left Off

Mary Ann GottstineMary Ann Gottstine knows Catholic Health well.

A former Vice President at Mercy Hospital who retired in 1995, Mary Ann underwent rehabilitation at Father Baker Manor twice, first in 2008 to recover from back surgery and again in 2010 to recover from a bone graft surgery in her upper arm.

Now that she is home and almost fully recovered, she plans to pursue her regular activities, including counting the Sunday collection for Saints Peter and Paul Church in Williamsville. "I’ve told them I’ll be there in September," she said.

The staff at Father Baker Manor has helped Mary Ann to feel at ease. "When I arrived late in the day after this surgery, I was greeted by the admissions nurse with 'Welcome back to Baker Manor.' I felt like it was old home week.”

She observed that her physician, Dr. Love, monitored her closely and was genuinely concerned for her well-being. She also commends the staff for their diligence. "I have felt so secure in their hands. Before anyone leaves my room they say, 'Call me if you need anything’ and I know they mean it. Anything they can do to make your experience better, they do. Safety has been their number one concern while helping to get me back to where I was before my accident."

“You can see the teamwork among the staff, and they genuinely care for me as a person. You can feel their loyalty to Father Baker Manor, their patients and each other."

When asked if she would do anything differently, Mary Ann said, "Why would I choose anywhere other than Father Baker Manor? Everyone has been wonderful!”
