Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery

What is Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery?

Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery is a minimally invasive technique in which the surgeon makes one small incision, usually through the belly button, potentially resulting in no visible scarring.

In contast, other minimally invasive surgeries may employ several small incisions to access the anatomy.

In the video below, Dr. Kenneth Eckhert, III, MD, a general surgeon at Mercy Hospital and chair of Mercy's Robotics Committee, talks about Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery.
