Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (Lap Banding)

Lap banding is one of three bariatric procedures performed at Catholic Health.

This restrictive and reversible procedure places a hollow, silicone ring or band around the main portion of the stomach, restricting the amount of food that can be comfortably consumed.

Dang Tuan Pham, MD is the first physician in Western New York to successfully place a lap band in a patient using Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS). The surgery, which is performed through a small 20mm incision in the patient’s belly button, leaves little or no visible scarring,
