Kenmore Mercy Hospital is part of Catholic Health. Our hospital opened in 1951, and we are proud of our history of serving the local community by putting the highest emphasis on providing high-quality patient care.
As a hospital accredited by the Joint Commission, we meet the most rigorous quality and safety standards in our field. We are an important point of care for Western New York residents, and offer specialty services, including:
Our orthopedic services include total and partial knee replacement and hip replacement. In 2011, Kenmore Mercy became the first hospital in the Buffalo area to receive Total Knee & Total Hip Replacement Certification from the Joint Commission, the nation's most trusted healthcare regulatory body.
Our medical rehabilitation unit (MRU) offers treatment for patients who experience hip fractures, strokes or other neurological impairments. Our MRU was ranked in the top 10% of more than 800 rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
As a New York State Designated Stroke Center, our patients receive access to immediate care from staff with the clinical expertise and equipment to effectively diagnose and treat stroke patients. Catholic Health hospitals account for three of the five designated stroke centers in Erie County. In 2011, the Joint Commission awarded Kenmore Mercy certification for its Advanced Primary Stroke Center, making it the first of Catholic Health’s hospitals to receive this certification. Our mission – to reveal the healing love of Jesus to those in need – is what sets us apart. We focus on the human side of healthcare – the touch, smile or comforting word that can help make every patient's healthcare experience better. We treat all people with respect and dignity, and provide comfort in times of greatest need.
Our mission has its roots in a legacy of care and compassion that began more than 160 years ago. Today, that same care and compassion can be seen throughout all of our hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies and health centers.
Catholic Health associates bring our mission to life each day with a firm spiritual foundation and a holistic approach to care that recognizes that a person's health and well-being means more than just treating their physical condition.
Kenmore Mercy Hospital and Catholic Health are deeply rooted in and committed to the communities we serve. Our principal purpose is to provide safe, high quality, compassionate healthcare for patients in Western New York, including those who lack the means to pay. We take seriously the responsibilities that accompany our nonprofit status. In our 2011 fiscal year, Catholic Health provided nearly $47 million in charity care and community benefits.
