The Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 1133 began representing Kenmore Mercy Hospital registered nurses in 2001. As of today, about 270 Kenmore Mercy registered nurses – 28 percent of the hospital's workforce – are represented by the CWA.
Kenmore Mercy Hospital has worked constructively with the union to negotiate fair contracts for our hospital's represented associates, most recently in 2009 for the registered nurses and in 2012 for the technical associates.
While contract talks occasionally involve healthy debate, our negotiations with the CWA always have been in good faith and focused on the best interests of our associates, hospital and the communities we serve.
Like many hospitals, Kenmore Mercy faces unprecedented challenges and pressures over the next decade as we implement healthcare reform. We want to reach a fair contract that balances the needs of all parties and addresses the financial challenges that could undermine our ability to meet the area's healthcare needs.
