Kenmore Mercy “Clears the Air” in 2008
Hospital becomes a Smoke-free Campus on January 1, 2008
Committed to improving the health of its patients and community, Kenmore Mercy Hospital took an important step in the fight against heart and lung disease by becoming a “Smoke-free Campus” on January 1, 2008. “This is a big commitment on behalf of our hospital, as well as our associates, patients and visitors,” said Mary Hoffman, President & CEO of Kenmore Mercy Hospital, “but we think it’s the right thing to do.”
More and more hospitals across the country are adopting Smoke-free Campus policies. Three in our own region, including Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Olean General, and Brooks Memorial Hospital, have been successful in eliminating smoking on their campuses.
As of January 1, 2008, smoking is not permitted anywhere on the Kenmore Mercy campus and its off-site locations, including the KMH Medical Office Building, McAuley Residence, Riverside Blackrock Family Care, and the 300 Two Mile Creek Road Building. The new smoke-free policy includes all grounds, parking lots, adjacent sidewalks and private vehicles.
