Educational Activities

Sign-In/Teaching Rounds are held each day at 7 a.m. At the conclusion of the normal workday, Sign-Out Rounds are held at 5 p.m.

Tuesday

Fetal Tracing Review is scheduled in the morning after sign-in rounds. The Buffalo Gynecological and Obstetrical Society annual program is held the second Tuesday of the month September through May.

Wednesday

Professor's Rounds at 7 a.m. followed by Sign-In Rounds. The major teaching conferences will take place in the department on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is protected time, beepers off; Nurse Practitioner covers L&D with back-up by a Chief Resident. The resident lectures are designed to conform to the CREOG learning objectives and in affect to cover the whole of the field of obstetrics and gynecology. First Wednesday of the month is OB High-Risk Conference. Lectures are from 8 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Educational objectives review from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. is self-directed study. Morbidity and Mortality Conference is held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on the first, second, and fourth Wednesdays. Multi-disciplinary Case Conference is held the third Wednesday of the month at 12 p.m. Journal Club is conducted on the fourth Wednesday of every month from September to April.

Thursday

Oncology Rounds is conducted by Dr. Piver and is scheduled in the morning after sign-in rounds. On the second Thursday of each month, Departmental Grand Rounds are held during which either a visiting speaker will address the department or a case presentation will be discussed.

Protocols

Conduct of all house officers is governed by the code of ethics provided by the AMA and the current Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Facilities.
