About

The Sisters Metabolic Center for Wellness is a valuable resource for patients who are overcoming a wide range of health challenges.

With a holistic approach to wellness, patients will have access to the equipment, resources, and clinical professionals to help them overcome the debilitating effects of obesity, the challenges of preparing for and recovering from orthopedic procedures, as well as returning to lasting cardiac health. With interdisciplinary teams working closely together, the center is designed so that patients may visit for one specific need, or multiple, depending on their personal needs and customized care plan.

The 6,000 sq ft. facility is conveniently located on the first floor of our St. Joseph Campus and features state-of-the-art equipment and clinical space.

Services

Bariatric Surgery & Support Services – When you’re considering weight loss surgery, our bariatric program offers personalized care, education and pre- and post-operative support services to ensure your surgery is a success.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Through our licensed clinical social work services, we offer private counseling, therapeutic groups and psychoeducational workshops. Classes focus on topics such as self-image and self-esteem, behavior modification, identifying challenges and underlying factors that contribute to weight gain, mindfulness and relaxation.

Cardiac Rehabilitation – The cardiac rehabilitation program is designed to help individuals with heart conditions improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Cardiac rehab typically involves a combination of exercise, education, and support from healthcare professionals to help patients recover from a heart event, such as a heart attack or heart surgery, and prevent future heart problems.

Nutrition Counseling – According to the U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Nutrition and Health, an unhealthy diet is a risk factor for heart disease, stroke, as well as some types of cancer and diabetes.

Counseling sessions with our expert dietitians provide a way for patients to examine how their lifestyle and diet are reflected in the way they feel. We hold ourselves to the highest standard of patient care by taking time to understand patient concerns and observing your privacy.

Diabetic Education - Our certified Diabetes Educators to help patients effectively manage their condition and lead a healthy lifestyle, through eating habits, weight loss, physical activity, blood sugar monitoring, and prescribed medication.

Physical Therapy – Our staff of licensed physical therapists use the latest technology and most innovative treatments to help you regain function, improve range of motion, reduce pain, prevent re-injury and adapt to physical limitations for a variety of conditions.

Occupational Therapy – Skilled occupational therapy treatments focus on maximizing function so patients can return to daily activities including self-care, work, and leisure activities. Our occupational therapist is a certified hand therapist, who specializes in both conservative and post-surgical conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.

Speech Therapy – We offer individualized speech therapy sessions and treatment plans for conditions that affect your speech, voice, ability to swallow, and other related disorders.

Wound Therapy – A chronic wound or ulcer that does not heal within four weeks may require advanced care. The specialists at Catholic Health's advanced wound healing centers are all board certified in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Our practice focuses on using patient evaluations to determine the treatment that will be most effective for you and your condition.

Medical Optimization – We offer the following pre-surgical clinical programs to help maximize patient outcomes: Supervised Exercise, Nutritional Counseling, Diabetic Counseling, Nurse Navigation, Wound Therapy, Behavior Modification Therapy, and Smoking Cessation. Most of our patients are orthopedic and bariatric at this time, but these services are open to any pre-surgical patients with referrals.

Smoking Cessation - Our team of counselors will work with you to quit smoking, lowering your risk of cancer and other serious health problems. A variety of resources are available including quit lines, smoking cessation products, and additional supports.
