Volunteer at St. Joseph Campus

Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus has great respect for our volunteers, and considers them part of the team. That is why volunteers from ages 15-90+ and from every local community choose to contribute positively to the day to day life at our ministry.

Why Volunteer?

For many people, volunteering gives them personal satisfaction to know they are doing kind acts for others. For others, it is a chance to put past experience and skills to work for a charitable cause. For others still,  it is an opportunity to learn and participate in the activites of a hospital environment, helping them to acheive future career or academic goals.

Adult Volunteer Opportunities (Age 18 and Up)

Volunteer opportunities are available in many departments. Click here to view our current opportunities.

Adult volunteers are asked to committ to at least one 3 hour shift per week for a total of 50 hours. Applications for community service and college requirements under 50 hours will not be accepted.

Volun-TEEN Program (Ages 15-18)

Teenage volunteers have been a very important part of the volunteer team at St. Joseph Campus. In the last few years, we have been blessed to have a growing number of teenagers want to give their time and talent to our ministry.

Due to the growing number of enthusiastic applicants, we have developed a new program for teen volunteers called “Volun-TEEN.” This volunteer program specially designed for teenagers will create a better opportunity for our younger volunteers to provide a service to the hospital in a fun and learning atmosphere.

Who is Eligible?

The Volun-TEEN program is designed for high school students age 15-18. 

Applicants must be willing to dedicate a minimum of one 3 hour volunteer shift per week. All accepted applicants will be required to complete the medical requirements that will be reviewed at your interview and attend a three hour General Orientation program prior to beginning service.

Applicants must apply by the deadline for the desired session. Applications received after the session application deadline will not be reviewed. Due to the volume of applications those required to complete less than 50 hours of community service will only be considered during the summer help session.

Once your application has been received, a member of the volunteer management team will contact you to arrange an interview and discuss the best volunteer opportunity for you. Please allow us at least two weeks after the application has been submitted to contact you.

2013 Volun-TEEN Program Application Deadlines

We will accept applications for the remainder of the 2013 school year until April 1.

Summer Help Session: July 1- September 6

Application Deadline - June 7, 2013

General Orientation (You must attend 1 session) 

• June 22: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
• June 29: 1p.m. - 4 p.m.

School Year Session: Fall/Winter

Application Deadline - September 20, 2013

General Orientation (You must attend 1 session)

• September 28: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
• October 5: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

How to Become a Volunteer

To become a volunteer at any of our Catholic Health Hospitals, you will be required to complete all the steps in the application process:

1. Apply: Obtain, complete and submit an application. If you are applying for a formal internship program, you will be required to submit a copy of your school contracts/requirements, name of advisor, and a resume. Please contact the appropriate volunteer office directly before submitting the application.
2. Interview: An associate will contact you to schedule an interview, discuss your desired or available positions and review medical requirements.
3. Medical Requirements: You will be asked to complete medical requirements as mandated by the department of health, including a physical exam, proof of immunizations (if born after 1958), and a Tuberculin Test or PPD.
4. New Volunteer Orientation: You will be directed at your interview where and when to report for orientation.
