SDI Top 100 Integrated Health Systems - Catholic Health (2008 - 2010)

This award encompasses the entire Catholic Health system and indicates that we are one of the 100 most integrated networks out of more than 580 health systems that are graded on operations, quality, scope of services, and efficiency. The designation is awareded by SDI, a nationally recognized healthcare data and consulting firm based in Yardley, Pennsylvania.

Cleverley + Associates - Community Value Index® (CVI) Five-Star Hospital Award (2009) and Top 100 Hospital Award (2009)

Cleverley + Associates of Columbus, Ohio, a leading healthcare financial consulting firm, has named Sisters of Charity Hospital as a five-star hospital, a national recognition for quality and value. The rating places Sisters of Charity Hospital in the top 20 percent of Cleverley’s annual nationwide evaluation of 2,643 hospitals in four key areas of performance including:

Joint Commission Accreditation (2009)

Joint Commission accreditation is a voluntary process consisting of rigorous, unannounced site surveys by a team of physicians, nurses and other health executives. Commission accredited or certified organizations have demonstrated that they meet the highest standards in their field. All Catholic Health hospitals have earned accreditation by The Joint Commission.

HealthGrades Five-Star Rating for Excellence in Bariatric Surgery (2009)

Sisters of Charity Hospital has been recognized for the fourth consecutive year with a five-star rating for clinical excellence in bariatric surgery from HealthGrades, the nation's leading independent healthcare ratings organization. In the Fourth Annual HealthGrades Bariatric Surgery Trends in American Hospitals Study, Sisters Hospital ranked #1 in New York State and in the top 5% in the nation for bariatric surgery, which includes gastric bypass and laparoscopic procedures.

Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence - American Society for Bariatric Surgery

This designation is awarded to surgeons and programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.

Certified Community Cancer Center - American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer

Certified Community Cancer Center - American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer The Commission on Cancer Approvals Program encourages hospitals, treatment centers, and other facilities to improve their quality of patient care through various cancer-related programs. Cancer Program Standards promote consultation among surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, and other cancer specialists. This multidisciplinary cooperation results in improved patient care.

Stroke

Designated Stroke Center by New York State Department of Health (2007)

Stroke Center Designation assures patients that Sisters of Charity Hospital meets the State’s stringent guidelines for stroke care. This includes being seen by a physician within 15 minutes of arrival in the ER; receiving a CT scan within 25 minutes; interpretation of CT results in 45 minutes; lab results in 45 minutes; and clot busting drugs within 60 minutes of arrival or 3 hours of symptom onset and catheter-based techniques than enable treatment up to 8 hours from symptom onset.

Certification of Lab (Ultrasound) - ICAVL (Application Pending)

The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories is to provide a mechanism for accreditation of facilities which perform comprehensive testing for vascular disease with noninvasive testing modalities. Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Certification of Nuclear Medicine - ICANL

The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote healthcare by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation." Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.
