Visiting Hours

General

11 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Catholic Health supports visitation options that work best for patients and their visitors. However, in order to optimize the patient’s ability to receive care and rest, we recommend visitation between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Patient visitation between 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. should be coordinated with the nurse manager, charge nurse or nursing supervisor.

Cardiac Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Open Heart Unit

11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

8 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Pediatrics

Parents may visit 24 hours a day.

7 McAuley West

11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Maternity

Fathers may visit 24 hours a day.
Open visitation from 11:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Per the state health code, children under 14 are allowed to visit their new sibling while in the hospital. All other visitors must be over 14 years of age.

Visiting Policy

Catholic Health recognizes the important role visitors play in the health and well being of our patient in the role of as support people.

Visitors will not be discriminated against on the basis of age, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.

Number of Visitors

Two visitors per patient are recommended in a semi-private room and three visitors for a private room.

Limitations

The patient may withdraw or deny visitation at any time.

The hospital has the right to limit or withdraw the right to have visitors if their presence infringes on the rights of others, compromises the safety of patients or associates or is medically or therapeutically needed.

Reasonable restrictions may include, but are not limited to:

• Patient is undergoing care interventions
• Presence of infection control issues
• Visitation may interfere with the care of other patients
• Existence of court orders restricting contact
• Disruptive, threatening, or violent behavior of any kind
• Patient need for privacy or rest
• Need for limitation on the number of visitors during a specific period of time
• Need for minimum age requirements for child visitors

Value passes can be purchased at the Cashiers Office or at the parking booth from the attendant.

Parking Ticket Validation

Please have your ramp or valet ticket VALIDATED for patient/visitor rates at one of the following locations:

• Information Desk – Main Lobby, 2nd Floor
• Admissions / Registration – 2nd Floor
• Security Office – Emergency Entrance
• Outpatient Reception Desk – 2nd Floor
• Valet Station – Hospital Front Entrance

Mercy Hospital's parking validation system is intended to discourage people from parking in the ramp for non-hospital-related business and to open up additional parking spaces for our patients and visitors.

Parking ramp tickets that are not validated (stamped) for hospital-related business will be charged a $25.00 flat fee per day. 

Flower Deliveries

All local florists deliver to Mercy Hospital. If you are ordering flowers for a patient, it is not necessary to include the room number, as the florist will stop at the front desk to confirm the recipient's name and room number before the delivery is made.

Gift Shop

The Mercy Tree Gift Shop, run by hospital staff and volunteers, is located on the 3rd floor, adjacent to the Mercy Cafe. The shop carries fresh flower arrangements, cards, magazines, toiletries, candy, balloons and a variety of gifts.

Gift Shop Hours:

Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Please note that our gift shop hours may vary based on volunteer availability. Please call (716) 828-2354 prior to your visit to confirm that the gift shop is open.

E-Cards

Click here to send your family members and friends an e-card.

Your eCard will be hand delivered to a patient in one of our four hospitals after 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Cards received after 1 p.m. will be delivered the next business day.

Internet Access

Free wireless internet access is available throughout the hospital. To begin using this service, open your wireless connection utility, scan available networks and connect to "Catholic Health Visitor."

Food Options

Guest Trays

Our Food and Nutrition Department will make meals available to relatives and friends of hospitalized patients for a nominal fee.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria, which is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., is located on the third level of the McAuley Building.

SUBWAY® Restaurant is located off the cafeteria on the third level of the hospital’s McAuley Building.

Hours are Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight; Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 midnight.

Tim Hortons is located in the hospital lobby and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Vending Machines

Vending machines are located in the cafeteria on the third level of the McAuley Building. Vending machine service is available 7 days a week, 24-hours-a-day.

Patient Representative

The Patient Representative program is designed to help you with any questions or concerns that may arise during your stay with us at Mercy Hospital. If you or your family members have any questions about your hospitalization, hospital policy, or have a special request, please ask to see the patient representative or call (716) 828-2044.

Smoke-free Campus

Please note that as of July 4, 2009, smoking is not permitted anywhere on hospital property and off-site locations. This new smoke-free policy includes all buildings, parking areas, cars parked on hospital property, grounds and adjacent sidewalks.
