Top 100 Integrated Health Systems - Catholic Health (2008 - 2012)
This award encompasses the entire Catholic Health system and indicates that we are one of the 100 most integrated networks nationwide. Catholic Health ranked 42nd in the 2012 survey; no other healthcare system in Western New York ranked in the top 50.

Patient Safety Excellence Award - HealthGrades (2012)
Among 263 hospitals nationwide, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was one of only seven hospitals in New York State, and the only Buffalo area hospital, to receive HealthGrades’ 2012 Patient Safety Excellence Award™.
The report, “Patient Safety and Satisfaction: The State of American Hospitals,” found that hospitals with the highest patient ratings in physician and nursing communication on average have fewer patient safety events.

Cleverley + Associates - Community Value Index® (CVI) Five-Star Hospital Award (2009 - 2012)
Cleverley + Associates of Columbus, Ohio, a leading healthcare financial consulting firm, has named Kenmore Mercy Hospital as a five-star hospital, a national recognition for quality and value. The rating places Kenmore Mercy Hospital in the top 20 percent of Cleverley’s annual nationwide evaluation of 2,643 hospitals in four key areas of performance including:

Joint Commission Accreditation (2012)
Commission accredited or certified organizations have demonstrated that they meet the highest standards in their field. All Catholic Health hospitals have earned accreditation by The Joint Commission.

Thomson 100 Top Hospitals - Performance Improvement Leader (2004)
For 2004, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was named as one of the top 100 Hospitals - Performance Improvement Leaders in the Country by Thomson, a leading provider of strategic business and clinical information for the healthcare industry. Kenmore Mercy and its senior management team were recognized for consistently improving overall performance at a substantially faster rate than other U.S. hospitals. The study looked at several key areas over a five-year period from 1999-2003, including quality, operational efficiency, financial performance, and growth.

American Cancer Society - 2007 Recognition Award - Smoke-Free Campus (2007)
For its efforts in becoming a smoke-free campus on January 1, 2008, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was presented with a 2007 Recognition Award from the American Cancer Society.

American Diabetes Association - Acceditation of Lifeskills Diabetes Self-Management Education Program (2003 - 2012)
The American Diabetes Association has recognized Catholic Health's Lifeskills program as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.
Kenmore-Tonawanda Chamber of Commerce - Green Globe Awards (2012)
This award recognizes the hospital for its work to implement and practice a green- or sustainability-focused business philosophy. More than 28 percent of the hospital's waste, that’s more than 528 tons, was recycled in 2012. Click here for details.

Practice Greenhealth - Partner Recognition Awards (2013)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital has received the Partner Recognition Award from Practice Greenhealth, recognizing the hospital for its commitment to environmental practices and sustainability. Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning - Three Year Accreditation (2010)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital was awarded a three-year accreditation for its computed tomography (CT) scanning by the American College of Radiology (ACR). ACR accreditation recognizes that the hospital’s CT scanning service has undergone a rigorous review process and meets nationally accepted standards of care.
Echocardiography Laboratories - Three Year Accreditation (2012)
With more than 10 million echocardiography tests performed in the U.S. annually, the information provided by this non-invasive test is one of the most useful tools in diagnosing and treating many types of heart disease.
The purpose of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Echocardiography Laboratories is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote healthcare by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality echocardiographic diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation."
Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of health care provided to patients. Because accreditation is renewed every three years, a long-term commitment to quality and self-assessment is developed and maintained.
Mammography - Accreditation (2012)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s Imaging Department recently received an accreditation from the American College of Radiology for its newly installed Mammomat Inspiration digital mammography system.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed.
Nuclear Medicine - ICANLCertification (2011)
The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote health care by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation." Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Beacon Award for Excellence (2012)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital was recognized as one of the nation's top hospital critical care units with receipt of the Beacon Award for Excellence, given by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. This national recognition highlights Kenmore Mercy’s accomplishments in fostering the highest standards of quality patient care as well as healthy work environments.

Kenmore Mercy Hospital was awarded the prestigious Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, becoming the first hospital in Western New York to achieve this recognition.
The designation substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Kenmore Mercy Hospital and identifies it as having high nurse satisfaction and retention.

HCIA, Inc. - 100 Top Hospitals - Orthopedic Benchmarks for Success (1999)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital was named as one of the top 100 Orthopedic Hospitals in the country following the release of an independent study – 100 Top Hospitals: Orthopedic Benchmarks for Success. The study, conducted by HCIA (Health Care Industries Association) and The Health Network, identified the 100 overall best-performing hospitals for orthopedic services including knee replacements, hip replacements, and fracture repair.
Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR) - Kenmore Mercy MRU Ranked Top 10% in U.S. (2008, 2009, 2011)
Kenmore Mercy's Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU) was ranked in the top 10 percent of 813 qualifying inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRF) in the United States for 2008, 2009 and 2011 by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR). The rankings were determined by using UDSMR’s program evaluation model (PEM), a tool which identifies and recognizes facilities that perform at a high level.
Certification of Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program (2011)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital received recertification of its Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) in 2011. The three-year certification recognizes programs rigorously reviewed by the national board who meet the AACVPR requirements for standards of care.

Joint Commission - Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification (2011)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital was awarded a special certification from the Joint Commission for its stroke care program. The northtown facility is the first of the healthcare system’s hospitals to receive the Advanced Primary Stroke Center certification, which recognizes its cohesive approach to fostering better outcomes for stroke patients.

Designated Stroke Center by New York State Department of Health (2006)
Stroke Center Designation assures patients that Kenmore Mercy Hospital meets the State’s stringent guidelines for stroke care. This includes being seen by a physician within 15 minutes of arrival in the ER; receiving a CT scan within 25 minutes; interpretation of CT results in 45 minutes; lab results in 45 minutes; and clot busting drugs within 60 minutes of arrival or 3 hours of symptom onset and catheter-based techniques that enable treatment up to 8 hours from symptom onset.
Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award (2013)
Kenmore Mercy Hospital received the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Award recognition for achieving 85% or higher adherence to all Get with the Guidelines® Stroke Performance Achievement Indicators for two or more consecutive 12 month intervals. The Plus achievement reflects at least 12 consecutive months of 75% or higher compliance with 5 or more Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Quality Measures to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.

In 2013, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was named a finalist in Business First's Best Places to Work list.
