Patient Safety Excellence Award - HealthGrades (2012)

Among 263 hospitals nationwide, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was one of only seven hospitals in New York State, and the only Buffalo area hospital, to receive HealthGrades’ 2012 Patient Safety Excellence Award™.

The report, “Patient Safety and Satisfaction: The State of American Hospitals,” found that hospitals with the highest patient ratings in physician and nursing communication on average have fewer patient safety events.

Cleverley + Associates of Columbus, Ohio, a leading healthcare financial consulting firm, has named Kenmore Mercy Hospital as a five-star hospital, a national recognition for quality and value. The rating places Kenmore Mercy Hospital in the top 20 percent of Cleverley’s annual nationwide evaluation of 2,643 hospitals in four key areas of performance including:

Joint Commission Accreditation (2012)

Commission accredited or certified organizations have demonstrated that they meet the highest standards in their field. All Catholic Health hospitals have earned accreditation by The Joint Commission.

Thomson 100 Top Hospitals - Performance Improvement Leader (2004)

For 2004, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was named as one of the top 100 Hospitals - Performance Improvement Leaders in the Country by Thomson, a leading provider of strategic business and clinical information for the healthcare industry. Kenmore Mercy and its senior management team were recognized for consistently improving overall performance at a substantially faster rate than other U.S. hospitals. The study looked at several key areas over a five-year period from 1999-2003, including quality, operational efficiency, financial performance, and growth. 

American Cancer Society - 2007 Recognition Award - Smoke-Free Campus (2007)

For its efforts in becoming a smoke-free campus on January 1, 2008, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was presented with a 2007 Recognition Award from the American Cancer Society.

American Diabetes Association - Acceditation of Lifeskills Diabetes Self-Management Education Program (2003 - 2012)

The American Diabetes Association has recognized Catholic Health's Lifeskills program as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.

Kenmore-Tonawanda Chamber of Commerce - Green Globe Awards (2012)

Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning - Three Year Accreditation (2010)

Kenmore Mercy Hospital was awarded a three-year accreditation for its computed tomography (CT) scanning by the American College of Radiology (ACR). ACR accreditation recognizes that the hospital’s CT scanning service has undergone a rigorous review process and meets nationally accepted standards of care.

Echocardiography Laboratories - Three Year Accreditation (2012)

With more than 10 million echocardiography tests performed in the U.S. annually, the information provided by this non-invasive test is one of the most useful tools in diagnosing and treating many types of heart disease.

The purpose of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Echocardiography Laboratories is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote healthcare by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality echocardiographic diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation."

Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of health care provided to patients. Because accreditation is renewed every three years, a long-term commitment to quality and self-assessment is developed and maintained.

Mammography - Accreditation (2012)

Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s Imaging Department recently received an accreditation from the American College of Radiology for its newly installed Mammomat Inspiration digital mammography system.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed.

Nuclear Medicine - ICANLCertification (2011)

The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote health care by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation." Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.
