SDI Top 100 Integrated Health Systems Overall Quality and Value

SDI Top 100 Integrated Health Systems - Catholic Health (2008 - 2010)

This award encompasses the entire Catholic Health system and indicates that we are one of the 100 most integrated networks out of more than 580 health systems that are graded on operations, quality, scope of services, and efficiency. The designation is awareded by SDI, a nationally recognized healthcare data and consulting firm based in Yardley, Pennsylvania. 

Cleverley + Associates - Community Value Index® (CVI) Five-Star Hospital Award (2009)

Cleverley + Associates of Columbus, Ohio, a leading healthcare financial consulting firm, has named Kenmore Mercy Hospital as a five-star hospital, a national recognition for quality and value. The rating places Kenmore Mercy Hospital in the top 20 percent of Cleverley’s annual nationwide evaluation of 2,643 hospitals in four key areas of performance including:

Joint Commission Accreditation (2009)

Joint Commission accreditation is a voluntary process consisting of rigorous, unannounced site surveys by a team of physicians, nurses and other health executives. Commission accredited or certified organizations have demonstrated that they meet the highest standards in their field. All Catholic Health hospitals have earned accreditation by The Joint Commission.

For 2004, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was named as one of the top 100 Hospitals - Performance Improvement Leaders in the Country by Thomson, a leading provider of strategic business and clinical information for the healthcare industry. Kenmore Mercy and its senior management team were recognized for consistently improving overall performance at a substantially faster rate than other U.S. hospitals. The study looked at several key areas over a five-year period from 1999-2003, including quality, operational efficiency, financial performance, and growth.

HealthGrades - Top 100 for Joint Replacement (2007 - 2010)

Kenmore Mercy Hospital has been recognized as the best rated hospital in the Buffalo area and among the top ten percent of hospitals in the nation for joint replacement for the fourth year in a row (2007 - 2010) by HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings company. In addition, Kenmore Mercy Hospital received several other HealthGrades accolades:

  • Recipient of the HealthGrades Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ - 4 years in a row (2007 - 2010)
  • Five-Star Rated for Joint Replacement - 3 years in a row (2007 - 2010)

HCIA, Inc. - 100 Top Hospitals - Orthopedic Benchmarks for Success (1999)

Kenmore Mercy Hospital was named as one of the top 100 Orthopedic Hospitals in the country following the release of an independent study – 100 Top Hospitals: Orthopedic Benchmarks for Success. The study, conducted by HCIA (Health Care Industries Association) and The Health Network, identified the 100 overall best-performing hospitals for orthopedic services including knee replacements, hip replacements, and fracture repair.

Stroke

Designated Stroke Center by New York State Department of Health (2006)

Stroke Center Designation assures patients that Kenmore Mercy Hospital meets the State’s stringent guidelines for stroke care. This includes being seen by a physician within 15 minutes of arrival in the ER; receiving a CT scan within 25 minutes; interpretation of CT results in 45 minutes; lab results in 45 minutes; and clot busting drugs within 60 minutes of arrival or 3 hours of symptom onset and catheter-based techniques that enable treatment up to 8 hours from symptom onset. 

Cancer

American Cancer Society - 2007 Recognition Award - Smoke-Free Campus (2007)

For it's efforts in becoming a smoke-free campus on January 1, 2008, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was presented with a 2007 Recognition Award from the American Cancer Society.

Rehabilitation

Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR) - Kenmore Mercy MRU Ranked Top 10% in U.S. (2008)

Kenmore Mercy's Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU) was ranked in the top 10 percent of 813 qualifying inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRF) in the United States for 2008 by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR). The rankings were determined by using UDSMR’s program evaluation model (PEM), a tool which identifies and recognizes facilities that perform at a high level.

Certification of Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program (2009)

Kenmore Mercy Hospital received recertification of its Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) in 2009. The three-year certification recognizes programs rigorously reviewed by the national board who meet the AACVPR requirements for standards of care. Click here to learn more.

Imaging/Diagnostics

Intersocietal Commission on the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) - Three Year Accreditation (2009)

The purpose of the ICAEL is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote healthcare by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality echocardiographic diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation." Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of health care provided to patients. Because accreditation is renewed every three years, a long-term commitment to quality and self-assessment is developed and maintained.

Certification of Nuclear Medicine - ICANL

The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories is "to ensure high quality patient care and to promote health care by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation." Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of healthcare provided to patients.
