Patient Stories

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all of those who are directly or indirectly caring for those of us that were unfortunate enough to contract this virus.

I have no idea of how, where, or from whom I contracted COVID-19, but it happened. I spent 10 days at home and then another 10 days in two different hospitals, St. Mary’s in Lewiston and at St Joseph’s campus. I have nothing but the upmost respect and admiration for the staff at both locations. I wish I would remember all of the names of my Nurses, Doctors, Aides, etc. so I could thank them personally.

I know these folks are used to dealing with all kinds of injuries, diseases, viruses; but this is different. I can only imagine the additional fortitude it takes to help and comfort people and perform your normal duties while wearing multiple layers of garments, masks, face shields, hats, and double gloves. All the while knowing that a simple error; or mix-up could result in the caregiver being infected. All of your caregivers are truly the heroes in my mind, especially the nurses. My Mother is an RN, thus a slight bias toward the nurses.

As I sit in my room overlooking the lower Niagara River, seeing the birds flying around, hearing my wife playing with the dogs outside, and all of the other mundane sights and sounds that we all tend to take for granted, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all of those who are directly or indirectly caring for those of us that were unfortunate enough to contract this virus.
