Summer Internships for BSN Students

Catholic Health is offering a limited number of competitive, paid summer internships for nursing students.

This is a full-time, eight-week internship for nursing students in a baccalaureate nursing program.

The internship will start on Monday June 3, 2013 and will continue through July 27, 2013. Interns will follow their preceptor’s schedule.

Application Requirements

Completion of an application
Cover letter including goals and objectives
Resume
Two letters of recommendation (of which at least one must be from one of your clinical instructors)
University/College transcripts: must have a 3.5 or greater for all nursing courses and a 3 or greater for all non-nursing courses
Documentation of enrollment in a University class (internship, etc.) for the time covering the summer internship
A current contract between Catholic Health and your school. If your school currently has nursing clinicals at Catholic Health sites, a contract is in place. If your school does not have Catholic Health clinical rotations, please contact your clinical advisor.

Deadline

All components of applications must be delivered to Janet Spence, Manager, Clinical Education by February 15, 2013.

Selection Process

The applicant’s material will be reviewed. Those which meet criteria will be forwarded to Human Resources.

Selected candidates will be contacted and interviewed for the summer internship positions. Selected candidates of those interviewed will be offered internships.

About the Internship Program

Catholic Health’s Summer Nursing Internship Program allows students between their junior and senior year opportunities to practice and develop their nursing skills.

Each student is precepted by an experienced nursing staff member and follows the schedule of that preceptor.

The 8-week summer internship program for 4-year nursing students allows training in specialized areas to include: emergency room, operating room, intensive care, NICU, pediatrics and telemetry. A variety of instructional strategies and clinical experiences are provided to achieve program goals and objectives.

Catholic Health’s summer nursing internship program provides students with the knowledge and skills to grow and enhance their clinical practice.

Through internship programs, students and organizations start the bonding process for potential long-term relationships.
