Settings in CPE

There are two different settings in which Catholic Health conducts units of CPE:

  • Healthcare Based CPE
  • Community Based Urban CPE

The distinction is based on the setting in which most of the peer group ministers.

The community-based group meets at an urban site. Students in the this group do their ministry in community-based entities such as soup kitchens, shelters, group homes, prisons and refugee resettlement programs.

Students in the healthcare program do their ministry in hospitals, nursing homes, residencies for persons living with AIDS, clinics, and homes of patients.

The group process for both programs is the same.

Apart from the group process, students are able to arrange the times for their ministry according to their schedules and availability of persons they are serving.
